Hydrotherapy Circuit

Kananaskis Nordic spa

Hydrotherapy Elements

Take a moment, look around, immerse yourself. Kananaskis Nordic Spa is designed to evoke peace and rejuvenation, from the setting to the elements.

Hot. Cold. Rest. Repeat

Hydrotherapy Circuit

On each visit to the spa, our advice would be to follow the hydrotherapy circuit for three to four times, using a combination of the hot and cold pools to truly experience the full benefits of hydrotherapy. Hot, cold, rest, repeat is our mantra, borne of the ancient Nordic wisdom behind the invigorating wellness benefits.

Hot

15-20 min

The initial hot stage reduces blood pressure while stimulating blood flow to the skin and muscles. Experience this in our hot pools, steam rooms and sauna facilities.

Cold

As long as you can last

The cold stage stimulates blood pressure, forcing the production of more white blood cells– your body’s natural healing agent. Flushed of toxins, your muscles relax and you feel rejuvenated.

Rest

Enjoy as you see fit

After each hot and cold cycle we invite you to rest and relax, allowing your body to stabilize.

Hydrotherapy Benefits

Heat therapy promotes blood flow, allowing oxidation of muscles and improved healing time.

Heath therapy reduces muscle soreness by increasing oxygen transport during hydro immersion.

The cold stage of the hydrotherapy circuit eliminates toxins by promoting the increased production of white blood cells, your body’s natural healing agent.

Dating back as far as 4500BC and later promoted by Roman physicians, the hydrotherapy circuit has long been noted for its calming, stress reduction benefits.

As the health of your circulatory, respiratory and nervous systems improves, your ability to rest and achieve more peaceful sleep improves.

The improvement of blood flow promotes the release of endorphins, your body’s happiness hormones. You leave the Nordic spa feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and happier!

The cold elements help reduce inflammation of the muscles, while the hot elements combined with water pressure, eases inflammation of the joints.

When the cold elements activate increased production of white blood cells, your immune system improves. White blood cells help your body fight infections and other diseases.
