Hydrotherapy Circuit Map
Take a moment, look around, immerse yourself. Kananaskis Nordic Spa is designed to evoke peace and rejuvenation, from the setting to the amenities.
On each visit to the spa, our advice would be to follow the hydrotherapy cycle for three to four circuits, using a combination of the hot and cold pools to truly experience the full benefits of hydrotherapy. Hot, cold, rest, repeat is our mantra, borne of the ancient Nordic wisdom behind the invigorating wellness benefits.

1. Hot
The initial hot stage reduces blood pressure while stimulating blood flow to the skin and muscles. Experience this in both our hot pools and sauna facilities.
2. Cold
The cold stage stimulates blood pressure, forcing the production of more white blood cells: your body’s natural healing agent. Your body flushes itself of toxins, your muscles relax, and you feel rejuvenated.
3. Rest
After each hot and cold cycle we invite you to rest and relax, allowing your body to stabilize.Â
Each cycle builds upon the previous, with healing white blood cell production growing with each cycle.
4. Repeat
Each cycle builds upon the previous, with healing white blood cell production growing each time.

Hydrotherapy Benefits
Heat therapy promotes blood flow, allowing oxidation of muscles and improved healing time.
Heath therapy reduces muscle soreness by increasing oxygen transport during hydro immersion.
The cold stage of the hydrotherapy cycle eliminates toxins by promoting the increased production of white blood cells, your body’s natural healing agent.
Dating back as far as 4500BC and later promoted by Roman physicians, the hydrotherapy cycle has long been noted for its calming, stress reduction benefits.
As the health of your circulatory, respiratory and nervous systems improves, your ability to rest and achieve more peaceful sleep improves.
The improvement of blood flow promotes the release of endorphins, your body’s happiness hormones. You leave the Nordic spa feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and happier!
The cold cycle helps reduce inflammation of the muscles, while the hot cycle combined with water pressure, eases inflammation of the joints.
When the cold cycle activates increased production of white blood cells, your immune system improves. White blood cells help your body fight infections and other diseases.
